Advised the sole distributor of one of the world´s largest soft drink companies on the re-negotiation of several contracts with clients, particularly with those clients most affected by the pandemic, such as restaurants and bars.

\ World leader in personal care products, in regulatory matters

Advised a leading global company in personal care products analyzing the implications and legality, as well as the follow-up of the parliamentary process, of three bills presented in Congress through which it was intended to control the prices of products considered essential during the pandemic.

Assisted a major soft drinks company by analysing under competition law various clauses used in contracts with its clients, taking into account the soft drinks company´s high market share in Paraguay.

Advising a world leading tobacco company with a strong market share on competition law matters, for example on a series of point-of-sale contracts covering advertisement, marketing and product exhibition matters, and on distribution contracts.

\ Paraguay Refrescos S.A. (PARESA)

We provided joint advice to an important soft drink company and the largest alcoholic beverage company in Paraguay, in the negotiation of an agreement for the joint transportation of their merchandise within the country.

\ Sale of shares of Cadena Farmacenter S.A.

We advised the shareholders of one of the largest pharmacy chains in Paraguay, in the sale of their shares. Our advice included, among others, assistance in obtaining the corresponding authorization from the Competition Authority (CONACOM), as well as the drafting and allocation of risks in the share purchase agreement.

\ Leading company in hydrocarbons sector, in competition matters

Assisted an oil company by engaging with the authorities on its behalf regarding the investigations for alleged non-fulfilment of a commitments and remedies plan set forth by competition authority CONACOM when approving our client's acquisition of its competitor.

\ JV between two of the largest agribusiness and fertilizer companies worldwide, on antitrust matters

We provide advice to a joint venture composed of an international exporter and an agribusiness company, in the analysis of the scope of application of the Paraguayan Competition Law.

\ Tigo / Teledeportes, a Millicom subsidiary

Assisted the largest telecom provider in Paraguay regarding a complaint of the alleged abuse of its dominant position made by a competitor advising on the competition authority’s grounds for investigation, possible defences and alternatives, and estimated outcome.

\ Various clients in transactional, distribution, agency and contract work

We provide advice to several clients on issues of distribution and agency rights; our advice includes the drafting of new agreements, review and restructuring of previous agreements, termination negotiations, as well as compensation claims under Law 194, among others.

A member of Vouga Abogados acted as a moderator in a series of webinars to discuss different competition law issues organized by APEDEC, CONACOM and ICC on behalf of the ICC.

Provided pro bono assistance to the Competition Law Committee of ICC Paraguay, preparing draft guidelines to prevent anti-competitive behaviour by guild members. No other firm or local professional participated in such drafting.

We represented a Uruguayan agribusiness company in an executive lawsuit for the collection of a debt instrumented in promissory notes for an approximate value of USD 2.5 million.

Represented a renowned international electronics company in a lawsuit filed by its former distributor in Paraguay for alleged wrongful termination of contract under Law 194/93 on Distribution, Agency and Representation.

\ Leading watch manufacturer worldwide in litigation against local distributor

Assisted a world leading watch company in a controversy regarding the relationship it held with its Paraguayan distributor, in the application of the Paraguayan Distributor Law.

\ NY-based debt fund in claim against local borrower

We advised a New York-based fund in the agribusiness sector in a lawsuit against the guarantors of a financing agreement. Prior to the start of the lawsuit, we advised the client in the negotiations with the debtors; We managed to obtain partial payments of the debt, thus reducing the contingency and the amount finally claimed.
